Our Stories

These stories are submissions by Muslims in Canada who responded to our call to action to share their lived experiences of hate, racism and Islamophobia. The stories were collected as part of CCMW’s Digital Anti-Racism Education Phase 1 & 2 Projects.

As part of CCMW’s Digital Anti-Racism Education Phase 1 Project, CCMW launched #DareToBeAware! a unique, bilingual anti-hate social media campaign focused on empowering racialized girls and women with the right information and tools to counter online racism/hate/Islamophobia.

The #DareToBeAware! campaign aimed at empowering racialized girls and women with information and tools to effectively counter online racism/hate/Islamophobia. Internet users who participate in online hate speech can influence potential perpetrators who may engage in street racism or take violent action against marginalized communities. Women aged 18-24 are particularly at risk and Islamophobia only adds to their vulnerabilities on digital platforms.

Join the movement. Download and share the illustrations with your friends and family and start a conversation on how YOU can help #DeleteRacism from our communities.
