This is a great workshop to have during Islamic Her/History Month, which is celebrated in October in Canada and gives us an opportunity to learn about Islam and honour the rich history and diversity of Canadian Muslims and Muslims living across the globe.

As Canada’s provinces become more diverse, this workshop is for organizations and groups that want to increase their understanding of Islam and its followers. Besides giving workshop participants an overview of Islam, key workshop topics include: hijab in Islam; gendered Islamophobia; alarming surge in Islamophobia; and the many contributions of Incredible Canadian Muslims.

Learning Objectives:

  • Increased understanding of what Islam is.

  • Increased understanding of gendered Islamophobia and its impact on Muslim women.

  • Increased understanding of hijab.

  • Increased understanding of the contributions of Muslim women around the world.
